Care for the Ocean - Our Visit in TX

We had spent the night at a friend's house in Victoria, TX, and the next morning despite the cold we decided to go visit the ocean and clean up some trash. We took along four sacks and filled them all with trash including fishing line, which is very dangerous to sea birds. It can get tangled around their necks and choke them to death. We picked up old beer cans, which could have choked sea turtles to death.
But then a storm blew up and we bundled into the car. We watched the birds line up facing the wind: sandpipers, albatrosses, sea gulls, and two brown pelicans. The pelicans were really incredible. We got to observe their fishing technique several times. The storm didn't bother them!
First, they fold their wings to their sides, point down towards the water from the air, and let a free fall dive take them into the water with their beaks open. Then when they hit the water, they scoop up a mouthful of fish and salt water. First they swallow the fish, then they tip their heads to drain the water from their beaks. And that's how a brown pelican finds food in the ocean. A storm is the best time for fishing.
Our friend from Victoria said that a very dangerous disease has been found in the ocean there, and we should not get into the water. Oh, dear God in heaven! Help your servants clean up and care for this beautiful world! How sorry we are for your water on earth having such pollution. By Rebecca Pineau, EarthSaversFellowship
